La Fable de l'Escargot

Notre pauvre escargot!

You have learned many things about how French high schools and American high schools are different. Now, imagine that you are an exchange student who has gone to live in France for a year. (1) What 2 things would you like best about attending high school in France and why? What 2 things would you like the least and why? (2) What do you think a French exchange student living in the U.S. would like and dislike about attending high school here? Post your response and see what your classmates think, as well!

Le Poisson d'Avril

The French have a fun way of celebrating Arpil Fools' Day - le Poisson d'Avril! What did you think of this interesting custom? Did you "fish" anyone? What was their reaction?

Can you think of any American holidays and customs that might seem strange to a French person? Which customs can you think of and how might a French person react to them if he/ she were visiting the United States?

Français 4 Only!

Pourquoi?

Mangeons à la française!
Snails? Duck? Rabbit? Leeks? Goose liver pâté?
Does this sound like your typical dinner at home? Maybe not, but for the French, these are common, everyday foods. You learned in class that it is impolite to turn down food that is offered to you in a French home. Would you be willing to try the above named foods or other typical French foods? Which ones would you eat or not eat and why?
Can you think of some American foods that might seems strange to a visiting French person - which ones? Would you be insulted if your French friend turned down food you offered him/ her in your home?

First Voki Avatar Assignment

Salut, Les Enfants! By now you should have made a Voki Avatar that you like. I can't wait to see them! So, here is your first assignment: Make your Voki speak! You may type your words in to the text box and give your Voki a French accent, or you may record your own voice speaking your words. Just remember that no recording may be longer than 60 seconds or it will not save. I want you to describe yourself and the things that you like and dislike using your Voki - en français!! You should have around 6-7 sentences. Save and publish your Voki and then e-mail it to me by Monday, February 14th: gomezn@gcsnc.com.
Bonne chance et bon weekend!
